Question Setting up Ubuntu as a host to boot from

Im trying to rescue a laptop I recieved for free. It has Win2k on it however it hangs when trying to load it. The laptop has no cd or floppy drives, and one usb port (but bios wont let me boot from it). So the only other bios boot options are via network card. I was told that I can setup ubuntu to be an "install host" if that makes sense. From my understanding I would set up my ubuntu machine as a host for installing onto the laptop. Anyone know / hear of tutorials or walk throughs on how to set this up?

Random nfo: Laptop: Dell Latitude CS (not sure what version but I could find out of necessary).
I have a random ubuntu station setup through my network via router specifically for this purpose.
I DO have a PCMCIA network card (not wireless either).

I found out that edubuntu is the version that is basically made for this type of thing. You will want to install edubuntu as the host distro. After that there is a short simple walkthrough on edubuntu's page teaching you how to configure a small file that will allow you to boot via PXE. Good luck. I found out my laptop is garbage.
