Screenshot dialogue window extremely wide and illegible Ubuntu 10.04

Hi,

When I do "Screenshot" on my Netbook, I get this extremely illegible dialogue window. Impossible to see what I'm doing. It's all guesswork, and that's how I was able to get the attached screenshot to show you. (it's that thing in the middle of the screen with no words or anything. What looks like a button is actually to choose where you want to save your file. The screen becomes dark and lists the possibilities. When you choose it returns as before. I have to put the cursor in the field above and hit return to get the screenshot. If I move what looks like the window I still see absolutely nothing.)

There is a HUGE delay after pressing "Screenshot" and before the "window" appears.

Any takers?

Thanks,

RM

one of the many side effects of using a dead distro release, i guess.

when did you last update it, or install any software?

https://ubuntu-mate.org/ if you must have the old Gnome 2 style. Upgrade or don't bother. Stuff that isn't supported usually gets no help.
