Scanning in Ubuntu?

Good staff ...
Is there any program that gives for it to work the scanner on my printer? I have a HP Photosmart 3210 and tou running Ubuntu 04.14 alpha 2.
I thank you your answers.
Be well.

I don't have Ubuntu, but hopefully this will help: I had an HP OfficeJet and with SANE installed, I was able to use the GIMP and XSANE to scan pages. Just look for the SANE (libsane and xsane) packages in Synaptic or the Ubuntu Software Center (although I don't know what it would be called in USC).

I appreciate the reply but I still can not scan.
I await more opinions.
Be well.

Do you have the libsane packages installed? If so, can you elaborate more on "still can not scan"? Any error messages? Does the software not allow you the option to scan?

You are using alpha software, so if you think you've found a bug, search the bug database, and if nobody else has reported it yet, report it:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs

HP printers should work flawlessly in all stable (i.e. not "alpha") versions of Ubuntu using HPLIP and SANE. Or you can try using Simple Scan, which is a "user friendly" front end interface for SANE.

Yes the libsane packages are installed on the printer can not scan even gives sign of life.

"can not scan" isn't even close to the level of detail we would need to assist you with troubleshooting this problem.

Your printer model is supported in all stable Ubuntu releases (up to 13.10) according to HP's website: http://www.hplipopensource.com/hplip...00_series.html

I would start with basic troubleshooting, like: is the printer plugged in? is the printer turned on? is the printer connected to the computer? can I print to the printer? can I scan with supported non-alpha Ubuntu release? etc. and then check back in with us with a list of what you've tried and the results. :)

Thanks, now it works.
I'll close the topic.
Be well.

It would be good karma to say how you fixed the problem, so in the future, if someone else has the same problem, they can benefit. :)
