SAMBA+ACL in Ubuntu

Hey guys im trying to let samba and acl work together in my ubuntu box, currently i have samba V.3.0.22 pre-installed in my ubuntu. the article that i read says that acl support on samba is off by default and samba must be re-compiled with acl... if i recompile samba do i have to un-install it first? or is there a way for samba to support acl?
