running root programs from an desktop icon

Hi all!

I've successfully installed Starcraft onto my Gutsy 64bit system. The thing is,in order to save from Starcraft I had to install as Root as it wouldn't let me save a profile with an install done without Root permissions.
I've added a launcher to the desktop but my question is:- how do I get the launcher to run the terminal commands to locate the path to the program and execute with Root permissions?

Any help would be appreciated!

Setting the execute permission for Others should solve your problem. Do a right click and select properties of the desktop icon. In the launcher tab Command: line, include the path to the executable.

create the icon without root permissions
then right click and go to proprieties

in the command field add gksu before the command (gnome)
or kdesu (KDE)
(use gksu for xfce)

that will prompt you for the root password every time you start it
