I forgot root password on my my ubuntu linux 12.04. plz help me how can i reset root password.

Also, there is usually a lot of very good information on ubuntu wiki that might also be helpful.

Ubuntu has no root password by default, but uses sudo, so you should be able to get a root-shell with using your normal user's account and password.

Do you mean that you have enabled the root account on Ubuntu and forgotten the root password? Or do you mean that you have forgotten the first user (i.e., the user account that you used to install Ubuntu??) password that you would use with sudo?
If you forgot your sudo user password, use the psychocats link that nonamedotc provided in post #3 in this thread.
If you mean that you enabled the root account on Ubuntu, and now you have forgotten your root password, then continue reading this ...

I have used every version of Ubuntu since the inaugural 4.10. I have never found any need or reason to enable the root account on Ubuntu.
I also never have these problems!
