Resolution Problem on 6.06

This is probally a very simple thing to fix, but I can not figure it out.

My resolution can only go up to 1024x768.

I am trying to get it up to 1240x1024, but it does not provide the option, adn I do not know what files I need to edit or how to edit them in order to get this.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks a lot.

-Oh, I have had higher resolutions on the monitor and card, so it is not a hardware thing.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Make sure you've selected the highest resolution your monitor can use (or at least the highest one you want to use), i.e. select 1240x1024. Make sure you get the right refresh rate...

The highest resolution I can select is 1024x768. When I use other distros, I can get up to 1200x1600, but Ubuntu wont give me the option to get above 1024x768

Try reconfiguring X. Then when it asks you what resolution to use, select the ones you would like it to use.

Here's the terminal input.
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

I ran
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
and it had me select what res. I want available in my options. I chose to keep 1024x768, 1280x1024, and 1200x1600.

I go to System>admin>screen resolution and I get a whole bunch of res. that I didnt want available )1280x800, 1280x768, ext). I still can not get 1280x1024 like I want.

I have xerver-xorg auto detect my video card, and it detects it right. I know that my vid card and monitor can handle 1280x1024 60Hz because this is the res I ran on DSL 3.01.

Could this be a problem with the video card driver? I have everything on the system up to date. I ran all the updates lastnight.
