Removing GNOME and adding IceWm

How do i remove GNOME (just the core, not all the apps) and add IceWM.

I want to do this so I can drastically reduce the iso size and have icewm as my default environment.

Depends on how you installed GNOME in the first place. Should I assume that you installed everything from source? BTW, if you want to keep the GNOME apps, you'll need to keep many of the core packages as well depending on the apps you're using.

right.

I want to uninstall the environment, but not the libraries.

I didn't install GNOME, it comes with Ubuntu by default.

I'd probably do something like this:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove gnome-about gnome-app-install gnome-applets gnome-btdownload gnome-control-center gnome-cups-manager gnome-icon-theme gnome-keyring-manager gnome-media gnome-menus gnome-netstatus-applet gnome-nettool gnome-panel gnome-pilot-conduits gnome-power-manager gnome-session gnome-spell gnome-system-monitor gnome-system-tools gnome-terminal gnome-themes gnome-utils gnome-volume-manager gnome2-user-guide
Hint: Save yourself some trouble--copy and paste; don't retype.
