Remove all but Ubuntu Minimal 14.04?
Hello,
I recently purchased a VPS, and the base install of Ubuntu each time I reinstall still has additional packages, such as apache and samba. How can I strip the system of everything except the minimal packages? Something like installing Ubuntu Server, without any server software actually preinstalled. Just so I know that it is clean... I'm sure I could ask to install from a specific ISO or something, but that is a lot more work. Thanks! |
Ubuntu should have a netinstall image that will only install enough to give you a system that will boot to the tty prompt, connect to the web and have the APT system so you can install what ever packages you want.
Is best to have a list of those packages before the install so you know what you are doing. |
