Reinstall of win XP causes error 17 on Grub

Hello, well as usual I had to reinstall windows to repair some problems, fortunately I don't have to use it much anymore.
Unfortunately I had to delete the partition that windows was located on and then reload windows. Upon restart I noticed that Grub was missing and my computer booted directly in to windows. So I booted up my Ubuntu live 7.04 cd and after a little research I found and downloaded "Super Grub". This nice tool easily restored my Grub boot menu and I thought that I was home free, so I verified that I could boot into windows but I found that when I tried to boot into Ubuntu the following message appeared "root hd0,3 file system type unknown Error 17".

So I am hoping that after reviewing the information below someone might be able to help me get my beloved ubuntu up and running again.

Try changing all the (Ubuntu) "root (hd0,3)" to "root (hd0,2)".
Can be tested from the grub prompt by following the prompts to edit the selection you want to boot.
Once in, update menu.lst

Syg00, that worked perfectly!!! thank you very much.

But I would like to ask one more question, why hd0,2 isn't that the linux swap partition?

This place is a great resource, every time I dig myself into a hole you guys always find a way to toss me a ladder so I can climb out!!

Nope - grub counts partitions, like disks, from zero.
