refresh rate help

How do I change the refresh rate of the LIVE CD's boot? Ubunut doesn't seem to detect my refresh rate and I would like to try it. I am using a 6.06 LTS that came in my mail yesterday...

IMHO a live CD can give you the flavor of a distribution and let you see if your hardware is compatible. The performance when running off of a CD is very slow compared to an installed system. Since you appear to want to use Ubuntu at least part of the time I recommend that that you install it in it's own disk partition. You can install from the live CD and will have the option to create a partition.

Look dude, I am currently using MEPIS, a much better Hardware detection distro. I cannot use 1280x1024 on ubuntu because the refresh rate is too high i think. I get 4 desktops. I need a way to fix. Is ubuntu really that bad? what am I going to do with the 13 cds i got from them? go skeet shooting? I really need a answer.

Investigate Ubuntu boot options, there may be a way to set desired refresh rate as a boot option.
