hello,

i have just upgraded today to hardy and i want to know how to get my wireless network card working but i have hit some problems. i have so far had to get ndiswrapper as a last option so i installed that and when that was installed i got the windows 98 driver for it and installed that and probed it etc...

i carnt seem to use it the network manager isnt picking it up

when i type lsusb i get this:
Code:
Bus 007 Device 003: ID 0bda:8197 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
and when i do dmesg i get:
Code:
[ 2390.911041] ndiswrapper version 1.52 loaded (smp=yes, preempt=no)
[ 2390.918934] usbcore: registered new interface driver ndiswrapper
when i do ndiswrapper -l i get:
Code:
net8187b : driver installed

Not knowing the kernel but there is module now present in the 2.6.23 kernel tree and newer called rtl8187. If you running a new kernel you can see if it is built and present with this command.
/sbin/modprobe rtl8187

If not I would attempt to install this module or new kernel and set it for compiling it.
