Radeon x300 and dell 2005fpw
 

I'm trying to run the live breezy CD (and later install) to a dell dimension 9100. X chokes on starting, but the data seem to show that X recognized both the monitor and the video card.

Any suggestions? I can't even get to the point where i could do an install. FWIW, the only other distros (of about 5 that i tried) that ran were Knoppix, Slax, and Austrumi (which helped me redo my NTFS partition). I could not get Fedora Core 4, or Hoary, or BeatrIX to run.

Ok, I fixed the problem....expert mode and VESA only drivers.

Now I'm trying the install CD and it doesn't see my drives. I have SATA drives, but combo mode is set...and i thought this kernel could deal with SATA drives.

...never mind....

I tried setting back to normal SATA mode and it worked fine! I guess the new kernel is capable.
