Python 2.7- minimal requires additional plugin

Hey,

I have a small problem here at least I hop it will prove to be a small one. The music I have in my Music folder is mainly midi's and when I try to play them I get this:

"Python 2.7-minimal requires additional plugin for this operation
The following plugin is required audio/midi decoder"

The went to the software center searched for it and came up with:
MPEG 4 Structured Audio Decoder sfront. I installed it and nothing changed. I still get the same message. I went over to Ubuntu forums an saw a thread which was similar to my problem an their solution was to install 'gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly' an 'gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad'. Before I installed them I did an update, then installed them and rebooted. That last part may not have been necesary but what the hey!

That move proved to be pointess.

I can listen to my YouTube video's with no problem.

I seem to recall something about a restricted thing whether it was gstreamer resricted or something else I am not sure. I think I'll open Synaptic Package Manager and see if a 'gstreamer-restricted' happens to be there? If it is, it'll show me whether it is alreader installed and if not do I install it?

Hi,

I was wondering whether I would have received at least one suggestion had I a different title? What if I had changed the title to read: "Midi's won't play require additional plugin" Who knows?

Finding a Python module "audio/midi decoder" :
https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=all#...2Fmidi+decoder

? midi.py ? https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonInMusic → MIDI

Python packages http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/python/
> python-midi** ?

To All and One,

I have solved my problem about not being able to play my Midi's. I honestly do not know if it was all the stuff i instaled from S.P.M. (Synaptic Package Manager) or not but here is what happened:

I opened up my Music Folder where the midi's are. I selected one and double clicked the Video Player opened an i got a new error message which read as "Zeitgeist Core requires additonal plugin for this operaion" That blew my mind but then I remembered I was using a cinnamon desktop, so perhaps ??? Any who I opened aother midi but this time I open with Gnome Media Player. It did not start to play nor did i get that 'error' message. I checked out File, View, Engine and it was here I saw one of the Engines was 'Gstreamer Engine' and since I had installed slew of Gstreamer stuff I clicked it and lo an behold the midid played. Now there were other Engines among them were: VlC Engine and Xine Engine also the first one was Auo Select which did squat. I may or may not try the other two Engines to see if they too will work? Right now I am satisfied that I can play my Midi's.
