PXE Boot for Ubuntu Live CD

I have an Ubuntu Live CD that I want to execute over a network through PXE. On my tftpserver, I have extracted the appropriate files and have them in place, and the relevant part of the PXE menu is

label CONTESTIMAGE
kernel vmlinuz
append vga=normal initrd=initrd.gz boot=casper netboot=nfs nfsroot=192.168.77.50:/root/contest

The client begins to load as normal but fails because it can't detect the network card. Where can I place the kernel module file for the network card so that it is downloaded to the client? Thanks.

Take a look at http://aput.net/~jheiss/netboot_linux/

There's a handy example of the config changes that can make this work.

Hopefully that helps...

I'm trying to do the same thing. For every 20 reboots it works once. It gets to the nfs mounting then drops to a shell. I figure either the nfs it timing out or the dhcp is.

This is the latest pxeconfig menu I've been playing with:

Code:
LABEL Ubuntu-live-install
  menu label Ubuntu 8.04.1-desktop
  kernel /ubuntu/casper/vmlinuz
  append initrd=/ubuntu/casper/initrd.gz boot=casper netboot=nfs nfsroot=172.29.0.20:/tftpboot/ubuntu splash netcfg/dhcp_timeout=2000 preseed/url=http://172.29.0.20/cobbler/ks_mirror/ubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386/preseed/ubuntu.seed --
Know how I can increase the timeout on the mount? Or at least where to debug this? I'm a Fedora user so most of this is new to me. (Fedora was just a "cobbler import" to get it working)

I take it back. I found the casper.log. It has all the dhcp information there. Just several messages after the mount command saying "no route to host"
