Problems with Lexmark E120n printer after installing Ubuntu 10.10

I got a very unpleasant surprise today when I tried to print out some work today:

As always Ubuntu found E120n's drivers when I turned on the printer, but when I try to pint something the printer tries to print, but don't grab the paper at all.

I thought that maybe it were broken or something, but it worked yesterday with Ubuntu 10.04 and today when I tested it with Peppermint Ice from my netbook

So anyone that's experiencing the same problems? Have someone found a way to fix this? I really need to be able to use my printer without having to use my netbook all the time.

Edit:
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10.

Could you try the printer via the 10.04 live CD? Maybe Maverick somehow broke compatibility to some extent.

Thanks for your answer :)

I just tried with the 10.04 live CD, and the printer seemed to work just fine after downloading the drivers (it also worked with 10.04 installed yesterday, before I did the fresh install).

I don't use Ubuntu, but what has always worked for me with this printer is downloading the .ppd file from:
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/.../Lexmark-E120n

then just run hp-setup to add the printer.

Thanks :)
But I've tried already and Ubuntu 10.10 won't let me use that file as it downloads the driver from the web...

Wait a minute! I will try to disable the network for a while and try again ^^

Didn't work :(
It still found the driver. But after what I have understood, the drivers are downloaded from Openprinting.org, or lies in a database on my computer.

I just realised that it's possible to edit the printers .ppd file manually
  1. Download lex120n.txt (it's an old .ppd file, I just had to change the file name to be able to upload it)
  2. Open Nautilus as root (gksudo nautilus)
  3. Goto /etc/cups/ppd
  4. Open the file named Lexmark-E120n.ppd
  5. Copy all the text from lex120n.txt and paste it into Lexmark-E120n.ppd (after removing all the text of course)
  6. Restart and voilą, the printer works properly again ^^

You can also rename lex120n.txt into Lexmark-E120n.ppd and move it to /etc/cups/ppd instead of copying and pasting.

Glad you found a workaround. :)
