Problems with latest Ubuntu build

Issues:
1. Menu bar doesn't boot or disappears
2. Massive load times for Firefox and other apps

When booted up and no menu bars, try Alt+F2, and type metacity, and see if the bars come back. I'm not sure about the massive load times for apps.
