Problem with fpit_drv.so / modprobing

I just switched my tablet over from Sabayon (gentoo) to Ubuntu 7.04 dvd edition. I did a apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-fpit to install the fpit driver for the tablet pen.

If I do a modprobe fpit_drv I get module not found.
If I go to the directory the module is in and try insmod fpit_drv.so I get -1 invalid module format.

I tried apt-get source xserver-xorg-input-fpit and fetched the necessary packages to compile and compiled my own driver.

Same result, module not found, and -1 invalid module format.

Any ideas?
