Problem with apt-get and synaptic using a proxy.

Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 9.04. But there seems to be a problem when it comes to using apt-get and synaptic using a proxy connection.
I set a directive
Acquire::http::Proxy "http://usernameasswd@proxyIProxyPort";
in /etc/apt/apt.conf.
But it seems to be of no use.
To add to my miseries the problem doesn't stop here my password contains '@' so I escaped it using %40 still having problems.

I get a 407 Proxy Authentication Required error.

Please assist me on this.

Try adding the Domain.

Code:
Acquire::http::Proxy "http://MYDOMAIN\MYNAME:MYPASS@MY.PROXY.COM:MYPORT"

Already Tried doing that...

Have done the mentioned once...but then it doesn't work.
Can you tell me how do I escape an '@' in my password.
It seems like it doesn't work in my synaptic package manager as well.

An encoded "@" should work(ie:try regular curl with the http_proxy env var set).
Code:
export http_proxy="http://wwwuser:P%40ssword@PROXY:3128"
Unfortunately, I it seems that you may be running into this apt world bug:
