Problem installing ISO from USB

I have a USB that will boot the installer but when it goes to copy files from the ISO image on the USB key it says it cant find the files.

Can anyone help with a USB install using an ISO image?

Thanks in advance.

TW,
How are you setting up the USB device? I always use Unetbootin, and it has worked for me several times... If you know you're setting up the USB device properly, then I would download the ISO from another server..

I did a sum check on the ISO so I think it's fine.

I'll give Unetbootin another try - does it work with the 64 bit desktop?

Thanks,

It doesn't work. The USB drive is not bootable and gives a "boot error" when trying to boot to it..?

Any thoughts?

I think it does, but to be honest, I don't know.

I've had that problem w/ Thumb drives before. I have 3 thumb drives. 1, about 2yrs old, will boot w/ Unetbootin just fine. The other two, are the same make, about a year old. 1 will boot just fine w/ Unetbootin, the other gives a boot error. Its strange, and I don't understand it, but that *other* new one, never works.

Only other thought, could be the iso you downloaded... Maybe try downloading it from another source.

Since I'm not currently running a 64 bit system can I log into a 32 bit system and create a bootable ISO image on this USB device or does the boot device need to come from the OS in order to work?

Thanks,

No.

I ended up just booting from a CDRom - so much for a bootable USB using an ISO image...

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.
