Problem in Installing oracle 11g on UBUNTU 8.04, DISPLAY Error

I am trying to install Oracle 11g on ubuntu 8.04. But i get one problem while running the ./runInstaller file. The error is checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors. I am unable to resolve this problem. Please let me know how to solve this problem. It is showing DISPLAY Error. Please help me to come out of this problem.

Hi -

Here is a great tutorial, which discusses both the overall Oracle install process, and your particular problem:

Be sure you're running in graphical mode, and make sure you've set "DISPLAY". And it's probably a good idea to type "xhost +x" to allow unrestricted access to your X windows display ... at least long enough to finish the install.

'Hope that helps .. PSM
