Problem booting

hi,
i dual.booted ubuntu+xp for some time. Recently, my ubuntu just stop working, it wouldnt start no matter what. So i decided to reinstall ubuntu. When doing it i received an error (after formating) and installation was aborted.
The result is that now as my ubuntu partitiion was formated and i have lost my grub dual booting. The installation of ubuntu has failed several times, and i have tried with different cds, each one with a different release of ubuntu.
any one has any idea how can i now at least boot xp?
