Printer Detected but will not print!!

Hello,

This is Paul & JaDan we are having a problem getting his printer to work with UBUNTU 6.06 LTS. His printer is a Lexmark 710 that is connected to 1 of the USB ports. It does get detected by UBUNTU but seems like the driver for it is not getting installed for some reason or another. I have tried some of the other drivers that are for other LEXMARK printers to no avail. Two or Three of the drivers did make the printer shoot out blank pages. Does anyone on here have any suggestions as to how to make it work?

Thanks,

Paul & JaDan

Check out http://www.linuxprinting.org/cups-doc.html and search for your printer to see what it says to configure it. If the model is not listed maybe one close to the number is. Just the heads up many Lexmark printers are just not supported under linux well. Many are what would be considered Win Printers. Similiar to Win modems is design. I have seen one Lexmark All in One Printer and it would not do a simply copy without the computer turned on. Check Lexmarks site, they may have linux drivers. They have made a few.
