PPC eMac Screen Resolution Problems
 

I would like my eMac to view at 1280x960 @ 72Hz, however it is currently running at 1024x768. The monitor can support 1280x960.

I have tried manually editing the xorg.conf file to include "1280x960" "1024x768" however the option to select 1280x960 does not appear in the gnome menu screen res gui.

When running:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

The 1280x960 does not appear.

In your xorg.conf file, put 1280x960 in there as the only resolution, restart your desktop. Someone has posted before that even though his laptop was saying that it's 1024x768, he opened up a gimp window at the reoslution he wanted and the window fit...basically the laptop didn't know what to display so it defaulted to some BS.
