Persistent USB Flash Drive Ubuntu Edgy
I have created a Live-CD on my USB Flash Drive (1 gig) by downloading "ubuntu-6.10-desktop-i386.iso" and followed the instructions from: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveUsbPendr...t=LiveUsbStick
I have followed the instructions to the T!
The problem is that the "persistent" is not working. When the boot menu appears, if I choose custom, the boot starts up, then hangs (black screen with a blinking cursor top left)
My only way around this is to select "live" from the boot menu then, I can boot all the way to the desktop. The bad thing is that I lose the "persistent" feature.
All I want to do is be able to keep the downloaded software that I have installed and save my desktop settings.
ps. I am booting without the live cd in my cd drive. I am just using my USB flash drive.
pss. Am I to tell ubuntu to save, or does it do it automatically?
Thank you in advance!

Try editing the kernel boot line to remove the "quiet" and "splash" arguments. This will at least display what it is doing, so it might give you a better idea of where things are getting hung up.

Persistent USB Flash Drive Ubuntu Edgy
It says Kernel Panic not Syncing.
I have sda1 patitioned as Fat which I am booting from and sda2 is partitioned as ext2. I tried ext3 and had the same result.
I have tried partitioning using Partition Magic,Gparted, HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and fdisk. I get the same error every time.
Thanks

It could be something related to Edgy. I have a USB key with Dapper working just fine. I should download Edgy and try it.
