Optimizing Kernel - Processor Family Type

I'm currently using AMD Athlon XP 3200, and was curious as to which processor family should I select when customizing my own kernel. Is there a performance difference in choosing K7 over 386?

It's a k7 but I don't think there will be a lot of difference in performance vs. 386.
