optical output from sound card

I had dapper for a day and managed to get the spdif working after installing alsamixer and changing the IEC958 as I had found in several forums.

I now have gutsy and am not able to figure out any sound, I tried the asoundrc file like Jennifer suggested also but still no luck.

I am using a turtle beach soundcard optical>reciever.

I have the Turtle Beach Montego DDL. I have gotten the Analog jacks to work, but can not get the SPDIF to work. What is this "IEC958" that you speak of?

Have you gotten any sound back?

nope, never did get optical working. Currently have cheap spkrs plugged into the onboard.
