Open Office printer problems (KDE + Gnome)
Quick one this. Can anyone tell me why Open Office won't print in Kubuntu Hoary. I was told it was just a Gnome problem but i can't get it to work whether under Gnome or KDE.
All other programs (i.e. Koffice emacs e.t.c.) work fine, but everyone seems to be using Open Office, (is Koffice less powerful in some way? i actually really like the look of Kword). Thanks in advance. Eric |
Basic question (on my part ;) ) but, have you checked your printer settings are correct? they are under File. also you can always export files to PDF and then print them (my prefered method as I use mainly open office draw for creating worksheets and the like) which is what I have to do after not checking the HCL to make sure my printer was Linux compatible, but thats another story!

settings under file
Yes i've had a look at the settings listed in the file menu. OpenOffice lists "generic Printer" as the only available printer, i assumed this was the system default but i've set that as "Epson" so should OpenOffice list "Epson" as well as "generic printer" so i can select? I installed OO after everything else and i had already used my printer, so i assumed OO would just pick it up as everything else did.
Why is the printer software different for OO as well? if it just used the same as everything else i doubt i'd be having this problem. Thanks for your reply. |
