NVIDIA driver installation

Hello,

I have installed the NVIDIA driver countless times on other Linux machines in the past, but can't seem to figure it out this time. I like Ubuntu, but why did it have to go and f*ck everything up by changing the runlevels around from 3 for text and 5 for GUI to 1 and 2. When I tried to install my NVIDIA driver in runlevel 1 just now, it warned me about some things and the install failed. I don't get it.

OK, I'll try it. Which one do I want? I have the choice of nvidia-glx or xserver-xorg-video-nv.

nvidia-glx is the accelerated one so use that. nv is the open source one, good as a fallback.
