nvidia, delete, module

(I'm not sure this forum is where this post should go, but it seems best)

After much fiddling, I managed to install the nvidia drivers for my GeForce4 MX 420. However, when I restart my computer, it seems to delete the kernel module, so the X server obviously fails.

modinfo says that it can't find the nvidia.ko in the right directory, and, sure enough, it isn't there. To get everything working again, I simply have to execute "sudo apt-get reinstall linux-restricted-drivers-$(uname -r)" or something like that, and it reinstalls them and everything works.

However, I'd prefer not to have to do this every time I restart my computer. I have no idea whats wrong with it (by the way, I'm running a version of Fiesty Fawn, Ubuntu) What is the problem?

Sounds like this is likely Ubuntu specific, since I can't think of any reason that would happen normally with the Nvidia drivers. You might have better luck in the Ubuntu forum.
