non gnome/kde WM
out of all the distros iv tried, i like ubuntu the best, probably.. except it runs slow (graphically) i have a good system so that isnt the question.. i believe its the WM.
does anyone use ubuntu (thats why im here right) with a non-gnome or kde window manager? if so... could you let me know briefly how you installed it? correct me if im wrong but, there is no choice of other WMs during install besides these 2, i thought.. i want to reinstall ubuntu again but use a different WM becaues gnome makes me not like linux because of the resource hog it is. thanks |
Fluxbox is good (http://fluxbox.org)

ya.. i know about the different WMs, and personally like either flux or that cholesterol free one or whatever its called (FCWM or something?)
i was just wondering if anyone has isntalled one of these after their base ubuntu/gnome install.. and use the alternative WM permanently? and if so, if it was difficult to install and setup? or did you just follow 95% of what the readme procedure outlined? im quite new and dont want to even dream of it if itll be extremly difficult. |
XFCE is another good DE.
