No sound in Gutsy Gibbon installed on my laptop
I have installed Gutsy Gibbon on my Compaq Presario V3000 Laptop and haven't been able to get any sound whatsoever. I had no sound problems with my earlier installation of Dapper Drake, though. I have checked that all the sound-sliders are unmuted in alsamixer. I have an nVidia sound card.
I get the following output when I do an "aplay -l": **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: CONEXANT Analog [CONEXANT Analog] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: Conexant Digital [Conexant Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 The command "lspci -v" gives the following output reg. sound: 00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Unknown device 30b5 Flags: bus master, 66MHz, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 17 Memory at c0000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: <access denied> I would be really grateful if someone could help me get sound working on my Gutsy Gibbon.
