No sound at cnn.com

I found something interesting at cnn.com.

Every video has the speaker icon with a slash thru it so I hear no sound ??

http://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2016/12...e-simon-nr.cnn

Does not happen at abcnews.com etc.

Hi Andy...

Just click once on the speaker icon and you should start receiving sound. Hopefully, that setting will stick for futue videos on that site.

Regards....

Hi Fixit7! (hadn't seen you around much in Nov.; hope all is ok)

Do other CNN videos play ok for you? (CNN webpages seem very 'heavy' [lots of content])

btw, here's another related story, on the 'inside scoop' of that very sad event:
http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/...php?p=19828156
(I once briefly, long ago, lived about a mile from there!)

Clicking just once on the speaker icon did nothing.

No videos play on cnn.com.

Maybe it bad html coding ?

Is anyone else seeing this problem ?

Jjanel,

I am doing fine.
Ubuntu-Mate is so stable and problem free, that most posts I make are in the General forum.

Update

I did find one cnn video where the sound worked.

It must be some bad html coding in those that do not have sound.

I'm not so sure. I tested out the link you posted on both my Windows and Lubuntu systems and they had no problem with the sound. What browser(s) and version(s) are you using?

Regards...

I'm not sure what the issue is but now we know it's most likely browser specific.

Found the problem. :-)

Somehow, I managed to turn the volume down to zero.

Maybe I have pre-Alzheimers. :-)

Hi...

Nah, mistakes like that are easy to make. Glad you got it squared away.

My initial reaction is "consider yourself lucky." U.S. television news is sinkhole of stupid.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)
