I am facing a strange problem. When I installed Ubuntu 7.10 I was getting sound well. I like Noatun, so I listened to the songs by using Noatun.

But now when I am trying to play Noatun it gives :

"Connecting/starting aRts soundserver failed. Make sure that artsd is configured properly" message. I thought may be because Alsa is loaded, I should not use Noatun (I may be wrong), so I tried with Banshee, Amarok or Rythmbox. None of them worked. Then when I tried to play them as root it worked.

So I added audio to /etc/group in my user group. And now as an user I can play music. But the real problem is after one song is played Banshee/Rythmbox/Amarok freezes. When I restart same thing happens. Strangely in Firefox also if I play Youtube videos browser freezes.

Sorry for being lengthy. But I am trying to give as much information as possible to get help.

Please help me.
