No Screensavers in KControl (Kubuntu Edgy)

I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but for some reason there are no screensavers showing up in either of the control centers (KControl or the default System Settings program) on my Kubuntu 6.10 desktop. What's strange is they're all there on my laptop. I did a search for all packages containing "screensaver" in the package name and description on both my desktop and laptop, and all the same packages are installed. I don't know the first place to start looking for a solution to this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

just to try something, try uninstalling the screensavers and reinstalling them. hopefully whatever got muddled up will be fixed at the reinstall.

good luck
