no network (wireless card is recognized)

hi

i tried a ubuntu distrib yesterday.

My wireless network card (d-link dwl-g520) is recognized. In the "network" administration menu, i found the wireless configuration panel. It seems to work fine, because it lists all the wireless networks around me, including my own personal network, wich sounds good to me.

Unfortunately, nothing works.

I entered the ssid, the WEP key, the gateway, (same things as I already entered a million times in my windows laptop).

But I can't even ping my router

Any idea someone ?

How are you getting your IP address, DHCP or static? If DHCP, are you getting it from your router? It sounds like you might not be on the same network as your router. What is the IP address of your router and what is the output of ifconfig -a?
