newbie- how do I see my hardware?

Hello,

I'd like to see what hardware is on my system (friend gave me a new computer). Is there a command that will allow me to see the hardware the system recognizes? I'm particularly interested in my sound card.

Thanks,

ab

lspci on the command line does a quick easy job and will show you cards plugged in and chip sets for sound, video and other things that have been built in to the mother board.
