That's why we keep backups. Most of the time, the grub update will recognize Windows and add it. Occasionally, it'll miss. It shouldn't be too hard to copy stuff though using a graphical editor (or a text one either).
In linux, there's a trick about copying text:
1) Highlight the text you want with the mouse cursor (this copies the text)
2) change to the other application you want to paste it in
3) Middle click to paste (on my two button mouse, that's press both buttons at once).

On my t23 lappy I lost windoze when upgrading the kernal.
It's a bit of a pain and had to copy stuff from the backup menu list.
I need windoze on tour as I cant get the wireless working on ubuntu.
seems a shame that the upgrade should clobber the menu list like that.

The Ubuntu grub divides menu.lst into two parts. One to be replaced by an automatic grub build and the other to be carried forward when grub rebuilds. The carried forward group is where you want to keep your Windows boot link. Comments in menu.lst will show you where the break is.

Many thanks for the help, I,m up and running, just a shame I can't get my Linkysy wpc54gsv2 working.
When we have ethernet the people I work with don't realise
there running linux on the lappy. (apart from it just works all the time!)
