Network not working at boot

Hello,
I recently installed a wlan card to my Kubuntu 6.06 computer. I haven't managed to ditch my normal cable adsl, as I haven't got the wpa to work yet. But my problem now is that my old cable adsl (eth0 on my system) won't start at boot. I have to disable and re-enable the eth0 connection with Control Center after every boot to get the net working.

- What might be causing this and is it correctable?
- Is it possible to write some kind of shell script that would disable and re-enable the eth0 at every boot (some kind of a ducttape repair to the problem).

Hi

I once managed to get my computer behave like you describe. Not really sure how I did it, but what fixed it was editing the file /etc/network/interfaces. (I'd been using a wireless network too, when it messed up.)

It should be like:

# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

That did it, thanks.

Sometimes I wonder what it would feel like to really know what I'm doing.
