Network Manager not Connecting to Network

Hi,

After install Ubuntu 7.04 (I previously was using Kubuntu), I noticed that the startup was very slow (it took about 5 mins, while when I last used Ubuntu it took about 30 seconds), I remembered having this problem once before and to fix it I went into the Manual configuration of the network and turned off roaming for wireless, set it up with a fixed ip and rebooted, then turned roaming back on and rebooted a second time and boot was nice and fast.

Only problem now is the network manager indicator in the bar is just rotating and not connection to my network, please help, I think this has got to be some sort of configuration problem as I am currently connected using the Live CD and I have no problems and it connects very quickly to my network

Thanks,

Gavin,

I've noticed this also. For some reason NM doesn't like static IPs, it works when I change it to DHCP. Sorry, not much of a solution.

Also not a permanent solution, but instead of network manager, try using WICD (http://wicd.sourceforge.net/). It's an alternative network manager that handles wireless networking a little bit better and shouldn't have as many problems with static IP address.
