Network Card Weird Internet

Hi Guys. I recently installed ubuntu and everything is fine except for the fact that the internet is acting weird. The web pages load it just takes (30-40) seconds to connect to the website. Then the connection will last for awhile and then it will take awhile to connect again. I tried switching Ethernet cords and tested another computer on it and it all worked fine. I am not sure if it is a driver issue, hardware issue, ubuntu issue.

Sorry if I am not completely clear I tried my best to describe it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen this myself. You didn't tell us which version of Ubuntu. When questioning software it's always advisable to try the latest release which is 7.10 Release Candidate. The final release will be on the 18th. It might also be helpful to know who your ISP is.

I am using Ubuntu 6.06 on an older machine. I am going to try and replace the network card and see if that does the trick, but I've never heard of a network card to act this way. My ISP is centurytel I doubt that could be the issue since my internet works fine on every other computer. I wish I could play with the big boys on linux. Windows all my life, time to learn !@$#%

Here is a screenshot if this helps;

I am very unfamiliar with linux as said before. Everytime I try to go back to the network options it is always set to LO I dont know if that has anything to do with it. The internet works it's just that it takes exactly 15 seconds for it to connect to the site (tried on multiple sites, get 15 seconds everytime) Then once it has connected to the site everything loads fast like it would normally. When I was at my school we had to connect through a proxy ( to access the internet. I am not sure if that would automatically change any of my settings. I took the proxy out in firefox since I dont use a proxy at home.
