Question Need help getting the HP 110-220z Am. Megatrends BIOS to ignore the hidden Win created MBR and boot grub2 in EFI?

this HP 110-220z should have been installed with an EFI windows boot. But HP in their wisdom installed Win8 as if the disk was an MBR disk.
I thought by formatting all the partitions I had removed all of Windows 8.
The errors I am getting indicate that the American Megatrends BIOS is still using the MBR which should not have been on the disk in the first palace. [Win 8 was the major driver for the switch to EFI partition boot loading. Microsoft finally admitted that other OS's could exist!]

This machine will be exclusively Lubuntu from now on since the processors were too slow for Windows8 that came pre-installed, and for a full Ubuntu installation.
So any thoughts on how to get rid of an "Invisible MBR boot area???"

Or getting the MBR to chain to the EFI. OMG It sounds like a Conga dance Bar.

Grab your phone and take a shot of the error messages.

You need to convert the disk to gpt as well as delete all the partitions - parted, or a newer fdisk should be ok to do it. Before you start, run this from a Linux liveCD/USB and post the output
Code:
sudo parted /dev/sda "print free"
lsblk -f

You have confirmed My worst fear.

I was really hoping for that miraculous work around..
I needed the view of someone with a lot more experience.
Thank you. Perhaps if I just stare at that hard drive long enough .... I mean give it a real hard Padington stare.
