Ndiswrapper and WPA on Ubuntu 6.06

Okay I have ndiswrapper installed and got my Belkin 54G Desktop Card F5D7000 working without encryption. However I have two questions:

1.) The System -> Administration -> Networking tool lists my wireless as being eth0. How do I change this to wlan0?

2.) How do you enable WPA the easiest way possible? I've heard about using the network-manager-gnome app, but so far it hasn't worked for me.

It's not listed. The only entry there is "root: ben". How do I add my card in?

Thank you binary_y2k2! My wireless card is now wlan0.

But another question: Do you know how to make wpa_supplicant start up automatically under dapper drake? Right now, in order to activate wpa encryption i have to type
Code:
sudo wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dndiswrapper -w -B
and its highly annoying. I noticed that unlike in breezy badger, dapper drake doesn't have /etc/init.d/wpa_supplicant.

you could add
Code:
wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dndiswrapper -w -B
to /etc/rc.local to make it run at the end of the boot sequence, or you could make your own init script to put in /etc/init.d

Thanks it works! It actually works! My nightmare is over!

Sort of...

My hostname registers as (null) in my router's dhcp list. How do I fix this?

maybe if you edit /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf and add something like
Code:
send host-name "yourhostname";
