Nautilus Thumbnails
Hello LQ Community,
I am using Ubuntu 10.0 Maverick Meerkat 32bit. When I connect to a windows share all of the JPEGS appear within nautilus as a file without a thumbnail (just using the default generic JPEG icon). Is there a way to make it generate a thumbnail for JPEGS??? It may just be me not doing something right........... Please help; Many thanks, |

Open your Pictures folder (or any nautilus window): Then Go into Edit -> Preferences -> Preview (tab) and set 'Show Thumbnails' to always (providing that you're on a LAN) things should be ok but I guess if your viewing content remote to your network then this could slow things down. Which I guess is why the developers of Ubuntu set it to local only.........

In Nautilus go to Edit>Preferences and click on the "Preview" tab. The default setting for "thumbnails" is Locale Files Only. Change that to always. That should do the job.
