Narcoleptic Desktop - I can't stop it from sleeping!

I can't stop my desktop computer from sleeping. When it's idle, the screensaver goes on, and then some time later it turns off the monitor, but it looks like the rest of the computer goes off too. This is really annoying and I can't figure out how to make it stop.

I turned off the "notebook power management" startup service, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I've tried adjusting the "power management" control panel, that didn't make a difference either.

I'm pretty sure I have ACPI installed, but my impression is that only kicks in if it receives a sleep request. How do I stop that from happening?

I also tried using xset but I don't think it's working.

Thanks in advance!

System-->Preferences-->Power Management

You should be able to make the changes needed from there.

I set the Power Management "Running on AC" tab display slider to 30 min. and the computer slider to "Never." In the "General" tab sleep type and button are set to "Do nothing." It works for me as expected with my Gigabyte mother board and Sempron 2800+ processor.
