Talking n00b!!!

I said I should give Ubuntu (5.10) a try.
My question are simple:
1. Have I understood well, tha I can use any kind of package that is available for Debian (through Universe depos.)?
2. Will I be able after installing 5.10 Ubuntu to upgrade to the "official" version expected to be rls October without, re-installing/partitioning the whole thing?
3.Doest ubuntu/debian supports x-black monitors (I want to install it on my Vaio VGN-fs215) and 1240*800 resolution?
4.is Quanta(html editor) pre-installed, and if not is it available for Ubuntu? (this question might fall to qstn no 1...?)
5.Can I use Kontact with Gnome or I'll have to install KDE?

thank u guys and hope to b soon on of you

Answers (well...replies at least)
1. I recently switched from Debian and using the universe and multiverse repos I have been able to find every program I used on Debian
2. It appears that upgrading isn't too bad using synaptic's "smart upgrade". I used it to get some pre-release breezy programs.
3. Don't know about VAIO monitors, since I don't have one. I would say that Xorg (Ubunut's X server) is probably a safer bet than XFree886-4 (Debian Sarge X server).
4. I don't think quanta is pre-installed, but it is easy to get
5. I have been able to install quite a few KDE programs with simply having synaptic install the appropriate kdelibs. Works fine. Just install the program you want using synaptic from within Gnome and it will handle the KDE library dependencies.

Hope that helped a little. Good luck.
