My system is messed up because of VirtualBox

A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:The package virtualbox needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.'

I can not run Add/Remove. Is there a way that I can get rid of this error message. I tried booting different kernal versions and still end up with same error message.

I would reinstall the operating system. Format the partition during the installation. Hopefully you have backups of your data or you have your /home partition on a different partition.

Try as root or I guess with Ubuntu use sudo dpkg --force-remove-reinstreq virtualbox to see if you can force the removal.
