My laptop is Asus n43sl which use optimus card, How I know both of my vga card work?


I try to run glxspheres but it says
xlib : extension glx missing on display 0.0
i doubt my vga card installed correctly
how I fix it?

You need bumblebee installed to use both cards. Odds are, you are on the basic card that does not support glx. The Nvidia card will.

I did a google search on 'optimus bumblebee' and turned up several links. Here is one that should get you going in the right direction.

I have install bumblebee...., after i rebooting glxspheres working now, but not with optirun glxspheres,
in my system my graphic shown as Intel Sandybrigde mobile
Do u know how do i check my nvidia bumblebee started or not?

I don't have the Optimus hardware. Have you installed an Nvidia driver for your Nvidia card?

The command 'sudo lsmod | grep nvidia' ( without the quotes ) will tell you if the driver is loaded.

My understanding is you do have to run optrun to switch cards, however you need the Nvidia driver loaded.

nothing output with that code...
i think bumblebee will install my nvdia driver automatically and switch it with my intel if needed... am i wrong?

I don't know for sure. If the command did not show the nvidia driver, then its not loaded. Without it the nvidia card is not operational.

May I suggest you look at this link. This user has it working on Ubuntu, and lists the commands necessary to make it work.

Optirun glxspheres still no output...
