ModeSwitch and Detection of Wireless Modem?

Hi, I installed via APT GET Modeswitch form my ZTE USB wireless modem. I need to know which modeswitch option is correct, and how to get Ubuntu 10.10 Studio to detect the modem in the my computer option. It only seems to detect a storage device.

Using a Dell Inspiron Laptop.

The modem glows green as it should, but no detection and connection.

Have you looked in your dmesg and /var/log/messages for any other information pertaining to your problem?

In Computer there is HDD, CD, ZTE MMC Storage and File System.

You type dmesg in your terminal, and /var/log/messages is a file located in the /var/log directory...........
