Missing gnome-vm for windowmanger?
I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a Compaq EVO DS15. I am unable to run gnome. After some digging I found an error file .xsession-errors, see below:
cat .xsession-errors
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
Setting IM through im-switch for local=en_US.
Start IM through /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/all_ALL linked to /eetc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default.

I have tried a different copies of Ubuntu 8.10 and still cannot run gnome. I am assuming that the missing gnome virtual machine is the problem. I have limited experience with Linux, so if you have a fix please be specific. Thanks for your time.
